After a long illness, suffered quietly, Wilbur J. Wade Jr. died on July 5th at his home in Fort Plain, New York. His abiding interest up until his death, was the preservation and promotion of the Cleveland Bay breed. His greatest hope was that the Cleveland Bay strain could improve the quality of horses everywhere, by selective breeding using artificial insemination. His legacy includes Three Cleveland Bay mares, one Cleveland Bay filly and one Cleveland Bay stallion, Braithwaite Senator, a potent and proven stud horse of great bearing. Two of his mares are pregnant by Senator. His dying wish was that his horses be sold to people who care about the Cleveland Bay breed, and that they be given good homes. |
